At Rose Lily Beauty in Colchester, microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a professional skin rejuvenation treatment designed to stimulate the skin's natural renewal processes.
This minimally invasive treatment uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, triggering a natural healing response and stimulating fibroblast activity. This supports the production of collagen and elastin, helping to improve the overall quality, texture and appearance of the skin.
Microneedling can help improve the appearance of:
🤎 Fine lines and visible signs of ageing
🤎 Uneven skin texture and tone
🤎 Enlarged pores
🤎 Acne scarring and textural irregularities
🤎 Pigmentation and sun-damaged appearance
🤎 Dull or tired-looking skin
🤎 Stretch marks and selected areas of body scarring
Skin renewal and collagen remodelling continue gradually following treatment, helping the complexion appear smoother, fresher and more radiant over time.
1. Haemostasis – Immediate Response
Immediately following microneedling, the body's natural healing response begins. Any pinpoint bleeding quickly stops and growth factors and healing signals are released, beginning the skin renewal process.
2. Inflammation – 0–48 Hours
The skin's natural inflammatory response begins, helping to clear damaged cells and prepare the treated area for repair. Mild redness, warmth and sensitivity can be expected during this stage.
3. Proliferation – Days 3–10
New cells begin to form and fibroblast activity supports the production of collagen, elastin and other components involved in healthy skin structure. This stage contributes to improvements in skin texture and quality.
4. Remodelling – Following Weeks and Months
New collagen continues to mature and reorganise following treatment. This gradual remodelling process is why improvements in skin quality can continue to develop over the weeks and months following microneedling.
Improves Skin Texture, Tone & Radiance
Microneedling supports skin renewal and collagen production, helping to smooth uneven texture and improve the appearance of pigmentation and sun damage. The result is a more even, refined and radiant-looking complexion.
Reduces the Appearance of Fine Lines & Wrinkles
By stimulating the skin's natural collagen and elastin processes, microneedling can help soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and support firmer, smoother-looking skin.
Helps Improve the Appearance of Scarring
Microneedling can help improve the appearance of acne scarring and other textural irregularities by supporting the skin's natural renewal and remodelling processes.
Minimises the Appearance of Enlarged Pores
Supporting collagen production and overall skin quality can help enlarged pores appear more refined, contributing to a smoother-looking complexion.
Targeted Professional Skincare
Professional products are carefully selected according to your individual skin needs and used as part of your personalised microneedling treatment protocol.
When will I see results?
Some clients notice an initial glow within a few days, while improvements in skin texture and overall skin quality develop gradually as the skin's natural renewal and collagen remodelling processes continue.
How many sessions will I need?
For clients working towards a specific skin goal, a course of 3–6 treatments, typically spaced around 4 weeks apart, may be recommended. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your individual skin, concerns and progress.
Is there any downtime?
Redness, warmth and mild sensitivity are common following treatment and may last for 24–48 hours. Full aftercare guidance will be provided to help support your skin following your treatment.
Does it hurt?
Most clients describe microneedling as a prickling or scratching sensation. Sensitivity varies depending on the treatment area and individual skin.
Is it safe for all skin types?
Microneedling can be suitable for many skin types and tones; however, it isn't appropriate for everyone. A full consultation will be carried out before treatment to assess your skin, medical history and suitability.
